Off-Call

.

A monthly space to step away from the ward and make sense of the work through stories, writing and the arts.

What Is Off-Call?

Medicine asks you to hold a great deal: the patient you could not save, the exam you are preparing for, the country you may be leaving. Rarely does anyone ask what you do with all of it.

Off-Call is Rufayda’s narrative medicine series. In each online session, participants use storytelling, reflective writing and creative prompts to process their experiences, notice what they have been carrying, and reconnect with why they chose this work.

Who It Is For

Off-Call was created for international medical graduates (IMGs): doctors preparing for, applying to or training in residency abroad, who often face long periods of uncertainty, distance from family and pressure to keep going.

It is also open to healthcare professionals at any stage who want a reflective space outside clinical work.

What Is Narrative Medicine?

Off-Call for Institutions

Narrative medicine is an approach that uses stories, close reading and reflective writing to help healthcare professionals understand their patients, their colleagues and themselves more deeply.

Off-Call is also available as a customised programme for hospitals, medical universities and organisations, delivered online or in person for staff, residents and students.
